← The toolbox02 / KNOW WHAT BROUGHT THEM HERE

A link with
a little context.

Name your campaign. Give every placement its own identity. Know which good idea brought people to your door.

Use consistent lowercase names. Keep personal information out of campaign tags.

YOUR CAMPAIGN LINK

A good idea.
Properly tagged.

Ready for a QR code, a poster, or your next email.

MAKE THE NUMBERS MEAN SOMETHING

Same campaign.
Clearer picture.

Source, medium, campaign

Source identifies the placement or publisher, medium describes the channel, and campaign groups the activity. Content distinguishes one creative or print placement from another. These tags help your destination’s analytics attribute visits; they don’t collect data on their own.

Keep your naming consistent

“Summer_Launch” and “summer_launch” can appear separately in reporting. Agree on a shared naming scheme before the print run, and don’t reuse the same content tag for every placement.

Existing parameters stay put

The builder preserves unrelated query parameters and URL fragments. Existing source, medium, campaign, and content tags are replaced with your choices. Optional content is removed when left blank.
